The Lionel Trains - Christmas Express HO Set is a visually beautiful train set with great sound effects, but there are a lot of negative feedbacks particularly about the tracks. The tracks are not stable and won't connect securely together, so it only works on a perfectly smooth surface like a table. The couplings also seem to have issues and many customers have had difficulty putting it on the tracks, as all wheels need to be perfectly aligned. The product is also quite sensitive, and it is difficult to make it work for more than a few seconds causing a lot of frustration to the customers who received a defective unit. Some customers also complained about the terrible plastic quality and non-functioning track to wheel contact. Although the Bachman EZ track seems to be a better alternative, some customers who needed to switch the Lionel track for Bachman also noted that the passenger car would stop coupling after a few rounds of the track. Additionally, the train also seems to be noisy, and some customers note that the engine would lock up. Although the product is expensive at over $350, some customers had issues with the controllers or missing parts leading them to return the product.
