Customer Questions & Answers
-
Question:
What is Air Dry Clay Varnish used for?
Answer: Air Dry Clay Varnish is primarily used to protect and enhance the appearance of air dry clay projects. It adds a glossy finish and helps seal the surface, making it water-resistant and more durable. This varnish is ideal for pottery, sculptures, and decorative items, ensuring they maintain their beauty over time. Applying a coat of varnish not only enriches colors but also creates a smooth surface that prevents dust and dirt from accumulating. -
Question:
How do I apply the Air Dry Clay Varnish?
Answer: To apply Air Dry Clay Varnish, first ensure that your clay creation is fully dry. Use a clean brush to apply a thin, even layer of varnish over the surface. It's advisable to work in sections to prevent drips. Allow each layer to dry before applying additional coats for a thicker finish. This method provides a professional look, perfect for artistic pieces that require a high-gloss finish. -
Question:
Is the glaze suitable for outdoor use?
Answer: Yes, the Air Dry Clay Varnish is designed to be waterproof, making it suitable for outdoor use. Once fully cured, this varnish protects your clay items from moisture and UV rays, ensuring they stay vibrant even when exposed to the elements. This makes it particularly useful for garden decorations and outdoor sculptures. -
Question:
Can I use this varnish on other surfaces besides clay?
Answer: While the primary use is for air dry clay, this varnish can also be applied to other porous surfaces like wood and plaster. It’s essential to test a small area first to ensure compatibility. This versatility allows you to explore various artistic projects beyond just clay, enhancing your overall crafting experience. -
Question:
What are the advantages of using a high gloss glaze?
Answer: Using a high gloss glaze enhances the aesthetic appeal of your crafts by providing a shiny, reflective finish. This not only emphasizes colors but also gives your pieces a polished look, making them stand out. High gloss finishes are excellent for professional presentations or gifts, where a visually striking presentation is desired. -
Question:
How long does the varnish take to dry?
Answer: The drying time for the Air Dry Clay Varnish typically ranges between a few hours to overnight, depending on the thickness of the application and ambient conditions. It's essential to allow ample time for each layer to dry completely before applying additional coats. Ensuring proper ventilation can help speed up the drying process. -
Question:
Is this product safe for children’s art projects?
Answer: Yes, the Air Dry Clay Varnish is non-toxic and safe for use in children’s art projects, making it an excellent choice for schools, workshops, and home crafting. However, it's always wise to supervise children during application to instill proper crafting techniques and use of tools. -
Question:
What materials are compatible with this clay glaze?
Answer: The Air Dry Clay Varnish is primarily formulated for use with polymer clay and air dry clay. It adheres well to various types of clays, ensuring a strong bond. Additionally, it can be used on unfinished wood and other arts and crafts materials, providing a seamless finish across multiple surfaces. -
Question:
Can I mix colors into the varnish?
Answer: Mixing colors into the Air Dry Clay Varnish is not recommended, as it can affect the consistency and application. It's best to use the varnish as a clear topcoat to allow your base colors to shine. If you wish to create a colored finish, it's advisable to paint your piece first and then seal it with the clear varnish. -

Unixing Paint Finishes Cvarnish60 Editorial Review
The customer experience with this glaze product is quite varied, showcasing a blend of positive and negative aspects. Many users expressed satisfaction with the quality, especially given its affordability. Reviewers noted that it dries quickly and provides a glossy finish that enhances their small art clay projects, making it particularly appealing for those using air-dry clay. The ease of use, without the need for special application equipment, was also highlighted as a significant advantage. However, not all feedback was favorable. Some users reported dissatisfaction with the drying process, notably that it takes up to 24 hours to cure completely. Complaints about uneven application, which can leave visible brushstrokes and air bubbles, detracted from users' overall satisfaction. Additionally, there were concerns about product quality upon arrival, specifically issues with a broken brush that led to a frustrating initial experience. In summary, while the glaze impresses some customers with its performance and affordability, others find fault in its application and durability, resulting in a split reception among users. **
